2024 Annual Report

2024 Annual Report: January 1st, 2024 – December 31st, 2024

The ways in which the benefit company pursued general public benefit during the year and the extent to which general public benefit was created;*

This year, as Ortus Collective Benefit Company remained in the planning startup phase prior to launch and the benefit is minimal. During the year, the only activity the organization had was related to planning, research, and participating in a fellowship for startup organizations through Grove City College. Throughout this year, the organization provided the following public benefit:

Public Benefit – Experiential Learning Opportunity

Through the E&I Fellowship, Ortus Collective gained two interns who were undergraduate students at Grove City. The interns gained real-world experience in a startup environmental through the fellowship and Ortus’ engagement with the program. The program commits to providing the participating students real work experience and start building a strong resume, as outlined on their website (https://gccentrepreneurship.com/student-fellows/). Ortus Collective supported this mission by participating in the fellowship.

Public Benefit – Planning for Launch

Through our planning process this past year, we have determined that when Ortus Company Benefit Company launches in Spring 2025, it commits to donate 10% of its profits to mission-driven organizations, which will allow our organization to support a variety of causes that benefit society and the environment, in addition to the benefit it provides as a trading partner to mission-driven organizations.

The ways in which the benefit company pursued any specific public benefit that the certificate of organization states is the purpose of the benefit company to create and the extent to which that specific public benefit was created; *

The certificate of organization does not currently state any specific public benefit, past general public benefit as described above.

Any circumstances that have hindered the creation by the benefit company of general or specific public benefit; and*

As our organization has still not launched, it has been challenging to create the public benefit however, our research and planning will equip us to create public benefit when launched in Spring 2025.

The process and rationale for selecting or changing the third-party standard used to prepare the benefit report.*

We did not utilize a third-party for this benefit report due to our organization not launching yet however, when we launch in Spring 2025, we will utilize the B Impact Assessment tool through B Lab for next year’s report and annual reports.

An assessment of the overall social and environmental performance of the benefit company against a third-party standard applied consistently with any application of that standard in prior benefit reports or accompanied by an explanation of the reasons for any inconsistent application.*

Upon launch in 2025, Ortus Collective Benefit Company will file its benefit report utilizing the B Impact Assessment through third-party agency, B Lab. This will ensure third-party analysis through a reputable source.

A statement of any connection between the organization that established the third-party standard, or its directors, officers or any holder of 5% or more of the governance interests in the organization, and the benefit company or its members, managers or officers or any holder of 5% or more of the outstanding interests in the benefit company, including any financial or governance relationship which might materially affect the credibility of the use of the third-party standard.

There is no connection or ownership between Ortus Collective Benefit Company and the third-party agency, B Lab.
